The mandatory enrollment process is being implemented in stages, by borough. Brooklyn and Staten Island residents will be the first mandatory groups. NYC MCCAP releases results from a survey of Medicaid Managed Care plan enrollees.

The Community Health Access Department, NYC MCCAP’s policy partner at CSS, convened a forum on February 9th to present the results of a newly released survey. The survey was designed to gain insight into how managed care is working for low-income families enrolled in New York’s public health coverage programs (Medicaid, Child Health Plus and Family Health Plus). The forum was attended by local, state and federal government officials responsible for administering the public health insurance programs, leading health care advocates and health care providers and plans. Participants engaged in a lively, frank discussion about program and policy issues identified by the survey. Highlights included the high level of satisfaction with primary care within the managed care system; the challenges faced by immigrants in accessing health care; and the need to identify priorities for improving the experience of low-income consumers in managed care.
